18 September 2018 will now be a landmark date for South African dagga users.
Following in the footsteps of a large proportion of the international community, the Constitutional Court has ruled less than an hour ago that the private and the medicinal use of marijuana/ cannabis are now legal in the country. This follows a ruling by the Western Cape High Court in 2017 that dagga could be legally used in the privacy of your own home.

It will take 24 months for the law to be passed by Parliament.
Meanwhile the Record is in the process of establishing the following:
• Will users have to wait until the law is amended before they can start puffing away legally?
• Will you be allowed to grow your own?
• What does this law say about distributing and/ or selling the plant?
• Is there an age limit for users?
• Who will regulate its use?
