Vintage Kombi bursts into flames in Welties

The driver is said to have owned the Kombi for almost 40 years.

A vintage VW minibus was burnt to cinders on Friday, 14 September, after bursting into flames in Weltevreden Park.

This old model minibus, whose owner escaped without injury, became engulfed in flames between Jim Fouché Road and Without Avenue, while it’s owner was apparently travelling to work.

According to EC Security’s reaction manager, Norman Mphilo, who assisted at the scene, the owner speculated that the fire started in the engine which is at the rear of the vehicle.
