Shorter working hours at Princess Clinic

Report at the clinic at least 30 minutes before closing time.

Due to safety reasons, operating hours at Princess Clinic have been changed to Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm; and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 7am to 1pm.

Patients are urged to report to the clinic at least 30 minutes before closing time, in order to allow the staff sufficient time to register and attend to them. If someone walks in just before the clinic closes, staff have to stay late, which is not safe for either them or the community members who leave the clinic and walk to their homes of public transport pick-up points.

According Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin, during August alone the clinic staff has seen 4 520 patients, 2 922 during normal hours and 1 598 during the extended hours. In the past those patients had to wait till the next day to be attended to.

The clinic offers community programmes that monitor and proactively work towards the improvement of health and well-being. The social workers, who work at the clinic from Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm, offer counselling and help patients with mechanisms to deal with various issues.

“Health care is life-changing and therefore the most critically important aspect of our lives, especially in an environment that is constantly changing. Our clinics are the safety nets for the vulnerable. They are the first step in assisting residents with critical health issues, repeat medication, and even provide a safe environment for emergency medical services to collect patients.“I want to thank the staff at the clinic for their dedication and commitment to the residents and their unwavering spirit to serve with excellence,” René added.
