Toastmasters pays Charterhouse a visit
A number of Charterhouse learners recently took part in a seven-week Toastmasters leadership course.
For the past seven weeks, a number of Grade 7 learners at Charterhouse school underwent a Youth Leadership Course hosted and led by Forum Toastmasters from Pretoria.
In July, 18 Grade 7 learners at Charterhouse embarked on the course which would see them acquiring several skills by the end of the seven weeks. The skills included how to do prepared and unprepared speeches, how to give a formal toast and how to say grace.
The success of the course was thoroughly put to the test when, on 4 September, it concluded with a formal banquet evening organised by the learners themselves. The ability of the children to organise an evening as professionally conducted as it was, simply blew away the parents and teachers, who were also surprised by the learners’ confidence and capabilities.
