Roodies take third as Eagles top Pool D in Apcan Schools Series
The Eagles managed to edge Carleton Jones for top spot in Pool D while Roodepoort swept aside Germiston for third place.
Hoërskool Roodepoort found themselves in the playoff for third place in Pool D, while the Eagles were faced with Carleton Jones High School to secure gold in Pool D.
Third place in Pool D was to be decided first, as Roodepoort were faced with a Germiston side seeking to make up for their struggles during the tournament. Germiston were unable to do so however, as they struggled to leave their mark with their last chance to impress.
Roodepoort completely dominated the exchange, which was their third match in Pool D after being dropped down from Pool C. Germiston was no match, as Roodepoort came out on top, winning 40–0.
The gold final for Pool D was much more competitive however, even though Allen Glen took the game by a sizeable margin in the end. It was a hotly contested match in the early stages, as both sides displayed strong attacking ability.
However, it wasn’t long before Eagles began to take the game away from Carleton Jones. Carleton Jones was simply unable to keep up with the speed of the Eagles back line, who despite a few handling errors, dictated the game for Eagles.
The Eagles’ defence also stood strong, and held off a number of attacks from Carleton Jones, who simply could not get over the line. The game ended 22–5 in favour of Eagles, who dominated Pool D the entire series.
