Helderkuin Lions donates to Roodepoort Police Station

Mops and buckets donated towards cleaning programme

A member of the Roodepoort Police decided to take action after seeing how clean the Florida Fire Station was.

Warrant Officer Juanita Yorke was helping out at the fire station during the donation drive for the firefighters who were battling the deadly blaze in Johannesburg, and noticed that the fire station was extremely clean. “I asked around and they told me that they kept it clean themselves. I decided that we also need to do something like this at our police station,” she said.

She added that she made contact with Lee Lerm from the Healing Waters Foundation who did not hesitate to help. “She went to the Lions Club of Helderkruin, and told them about my idea. They donated buckets and mops, which employees from the Community Work Programme (CWP) will use to clean the station every Tuesday,” said Juanita.

According to Juanita, the main focus for this programme is to restore the image that is portrayed to the public, as well as to try and cheer up the police members and motivate them.

She concluded by thanking Lee and the Lions Club of Helderkruin for their generous donation as well as their support.
