Gateway receives helping hand from Medshield

A R50 000 donation from Medshield will go a long way towards assisting Gateway Village with its care funding.

Gateway Village recently received a mammoth donation from Medshield Medical Aid Schemes, which will go a long way toward subsidising the centre’s care funds.

At Medshield, each member of its board of trustees is required to pick a charity or organisation to which he/ she would like to donate an amount of money. It was in light of this that Medshield Trustees, Letitia Erasmus and Leon de Lange, elected Gateway as the charity to which they wanted to donate.

They each elected to donate R25 000 in funds accrued in Medshield’s trust, bringing the total amount which Gateway received to R50 000. The handover of the cheque took place on Tuesday, 4 September.

Speaking at the handover of the cheque, Gateway chairman, Frank Enslin, expressed his gratitude for the immense donation made by Letitia and Leon.

“We have 86 residents here, some as old as 74 years of age, and we need to do whatever we can to subsidise their care,” Frank said. “We are therefore extremely grateful for this donation, as it will go a long way towards much needed care funds.”

Frank also highlighted just how important the work that Gateway does, is, stating that their residents “never grow up”, and that “they will always need our help”.
