Roodepoort ESS players off to Dubai

They will be part of the U/11 Elite team

The various Euro Soccer Schools (ESS) in the Gauteng region recently held their elite trials, where the players had the opportunity to showcase their skills.

During these trials, the best players are selected to be part of the U/9, U/11 and U/13 teams that will be representing South Africa in a tournament which will be taking place in Dubai later this year.

During these trials, two players from the Roodepoort ESS franchise, Tumelo Moshugi and Lebohang Litabe, were chosen to be part of the South African ESS U/11 Elite team, and their coach, Junior Mwale said, “It makes me proud to see these two players being chosen as part of the team. I have only been in charge of the Roodepoort branch for about three months, and I was not sure that my players were ready. But, they went out and did exactly what I taught them. Everyone was very impressed with their performance with a new coach at a new venue. This is a very proud moment for me.”

Both Lebohang and Tumelo said that they were very happy when they heard that they were selected as part of the team, and they were also quite excited about the prospect of playing in Dubai.

Lebohang said, “When I heard I was selected to be part of the team, I was very happy and proud of myself. I ran around the house, screaming, as it was something that I really wanted.”

Tumelo echoed his teammate’s sentiments, and added, “I knew that I did my best during the trials, and knew I would make the team.”

Junior added that they were also looking for coaches, and said, “The ideal candidate would at least have a South African Football Association (SAFA) D- licence, and should also be passionate about children. But, if there are people who might not have all the qualifications, but have previous coaching experience, they can also apply.”
