City is working on the pensioner rebates

Pensioners are asked to be patient.

Ward 85 councillor, Sonja Meyer, recently advised residents who are experiencing problems with their pensioner rebate statement amounts to be patient, as the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is still working on those accounts.

“If any pensioner is having issues with a pensioner rebate not yet reflecting on your account, please note that the main issue is that many of the applications were submitted just prior to 1 July, after billing had already been prepared for the July statements. The CoJ’s systems were shut down from mid-June to early July, so no information could be altered or entered,” she said.

Sonja also mentioned that the back office is still busy finalising applications but once done they will adjust pensioners’ accounts accordingly.

“In the interim, your account will show an unresolved ticket on the system so they won’t institute credit action against you. Just make sure you pay any amounts owing as if you were paying the account with the discount/ rebate,” she added.
