All three vehicles were travelling on Ontdekkers Road in the direction of Johannesburg when the incident took place at the pedestrian crossing opposite Westgate Shopping Centre. According to the Record’s source the taxi slammed into the rider who in turn slammed into a light motor vehicle.
The taxi driver, who according to bystanders was intoxicated, then started allegedly assaulting the 60-something-year-old motorcycle rider but a number of tow-truck drivers from a well known company came to his rescue.

The condition of the biker is uncertain at this stage, and it is believed that the taxi driver was arrested for drunken driving and attempted murder, but this could not be confirmed yet.
