Children’s risky activities at Helderkruin waterfall
Just one of the problems in this area.
Residents of Valley View Estate have expressed their concern over the activities of a number of schoolchildren on a dangerous ledge at the waterfall (part of Dakota Avenue Park 1) bordering their estate on Dakota Avenue.
According to one of the residents, several schoolchildren, clad in their uniforms, can often be seen after school, gathering on the dangerously high ledge. According to the complainant, the children can be seen smoking ‘something’ and drinking. This is accompanied by shouting and screaming. “I can only assume that they are busy with some kind of illicit activity, but what is more concerning is that they run a very real risk, if intoxicated, of falling off the ledge,” he said. “They obviously know that the chances of the location being policed are very slim but seem to be ignorant of the fact that they clearly visible from a lot of our homes”.
