One dead, one critical after bakkie and car collide
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
One man was killed and another was left critically injured this morning in a collision between a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the N1 highway underneath the Ontdekkers Bridge in Maraisburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 8am to find the two vehicles on the side of the road. One man was found lying inside the vehicle while the other was found lying a few metres away.
Paramedics assessed the man lying outside the vehicle and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

The second man was assessed and found to be in a critical condition. He was treated for his
injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Shortly after treatment, the man was transported to Life Flora for further treatment.
The passengers in the light motor vehicle escaped injury.
