West Rand properties targeted by government for EWC
Government refused to make list public.
The civil rights group Afriforum claims it has obtained a list of 190 properties that are earmarked by government for expropriation without compensation (EWC).
This comes after the ANC’s announcement earlier in the week that the party had identified 139 farms for this purpose. The list shows 190 properties though. The list of farms was kept confidential, however, and neither the party nor government was willing to make the list public.

Ernest Roets, Chief Executive Officer of Afriforum, expressed his concerns over the list fearing that many of the property owners were unaware that they were on the list.
The seven West Rand areas that are allegedly earmarked for EWC are Zwartkop, Golden Valley, Vogelstruisfontein, Tweefontein, Elandsfontein, Witstinkhoutboom and Witstinkhoutboom Project. Kep in mind that these properties consists of hundreds of portions which include hotels, tourism attractions and the likes.
The Record is in the process of determining exactly how many portions these seven areas consist of.
