Parents beware of new suicide game
Game consists of a series of dares.
Following in the wake of the Slenderman and Blue Whale ‘suicide games’, comes the Momo Challenge.
Players, mostly teenagers, are encouraged to add Momo onto their Whatsapp address book. They are then instructed to perform a variety of dares and if they fail they are bombarded with violent images and videos. Some of the dares include posting photos online of their self-harm.

The game culminates in a final dare – to commit suicide.
Thus far the suicide of a 12-year-old Argentinean girl has been connected to the game. Parents across the globe have been warned to monitor their children’s online activity.
The avatar (profile picture) used by Momo is an image of a woman with grotesque features and bulging eyes taken from the work of Japanese artist Midori Hayash. He is not connected to the game though.
It is uncertain whether the game has hit South African shores yet.
