BCI Security, just one of the security companies called to the scene, reported that their incident support member started assessing patients on scene as soon as he arrived, and found three people in the taxi. One had sadly already passed away, the second patient was trapped, and the third patient had suffered injuries.
“He then assessed the patient in the light motor vehicle, and found him to be in a critical condition,” the company’s media liaison, Gary Jordaan, said.
He added that several emergency services arrived within a few minutes of the call for assistance and took over the treatment of the injured.
The patients were transported by various ambulance services to local hospitals for further treatment.

An eyewitness alleged that the driver of the taxi was driving on the yellow line when it crashed with a vehicle turning right onto Fredenharry Road.
Although this account has not been confirmed as yet, Jordaan said officers from the Accident Investigation Unit arrived to conduct an investigation into the events leading up to and the cause of the accident.
