Ex-Maragon learner paddles in Bulgaria (PRINT RR & RN) / Former Maragon learner paddles all the way to Bulgaria (WEB)

The South African squad of nine men and women set out seeking strong performances against some of the world’s best U/23 canoeists.

 

The 2018 ICF Junior & U/23 Sprint World Championships finished in Plovdiv, Bulgaria last weekend, and featured former Maragon Ruimsig learner David Rodrigues.

From the outset, the South African squad faced a daunting task as they very rarely see competition as strong as this, however gaining as much experience as possible for the first-timers and building on previous experience for the others were vital too.

David, a familiar face in the South African canoeing fraternity, participated in the U/23 200m K1 race and hoped that he could qualify for an A Final.

At the time of writing, the results of the championships, were not yet known.
