City Power owns up

Weeks passed and the street light was not fixed and it was on the verge of falling towards the road posing a danger.

City Power denied responsibility for repairing the street light pole on the corner of Gregor Street and Trezona Avenue, claiming it was Mogale City Local Municipality’s problem. This has subsequently proved to be untrue.

This comes after a motor vehicle accident which occurred on 8 June when two vehicles collided and one of the vehicles crashed into the street light pole.

According to an eyewitness, who lives on the corner of Gregor Street and Trezona Avenue, the female driver of a black Audi A4 was crossing Trezona Avenue from the direction of Mindalore. “The driver did not stop at the stop street, or at the centre median.

She almost collided with an Uber car, and then actually collided with a white Dodge Ram travelling from the direction of Albertina Sisulu Road.”

Weeks passed and the pole was not replaced. It was on the verge of falling across the road, posing a danger to motorist and pedestrians.

The Record approached City Power about the matter and was told that the street light belonged to Mogale City Local Municipality. After realising that they were mistaken, City Power eventually attended to it.
