Three years later and no progress in murder case

Alezia Vermeulen has yet to get closure after her husband was murdered in November 2015, mainly due to the lack of feedback from the Honeydew Police Station.

On Sunday, 29 November 2015, she and her husband, Quintin were getting ready to watch the Sunday movie when they heard their dogs barking. As her husband opened the front door, the suspects stormed into the house. All Quintin managed to do was scream, “Babe”, in order to warn his wife. His wife ran to lock herself in a bedroom. As she fled, she saw her husband collapse as one of the suspects repeatedly hit him over the head with a crowbar.

Her neighbours heard her scream and came to her rescue, but the suspects already fled.

Alezia has since tried on numerous occasions to determine the status of the case but always get the same answers – either they are “waiting for forensic reports” or they are waiting for “ballistic reports”.

“I am starting to wonder if they haven’t lost the dockets,” said Alezia.

The Record could not get hold of the spokesperson at Honeydew Police Station to obtain comment.
