Young man rules street with fear

Police have yet to act.

The residents of Valkenier Street in Witpoortjie live in fear as a result of a young man’s terror campaign.

For some time, this young man has allegedly been breaking into houses to steal in order to feed his drug habit. One woman’s house has been broken into three times and she and her family refuse to live there any longer. Conveniently, the suspect’s dealer allegedly lives on the same street.

About a week ago, a vehicle was hijacked and the suspect fled into the alleged drug dealer’s house. The young suspect has been arrested before, but as soon as he was released, he started breaking into houses again.

According to one complainant, the only response they received from the Police was that the story is just a rumour, and they cannot act on rumours.

Meanwhile, another resident who happened to be in close proximity, overheard the occupant of the house planning another hijacking. The resident said they were plotting to hijack a white Golf, of which there are at least three in the street.
