Florida remains without power due to cable theft that resulted in transformer failure.
According to Ward 70 councillor, Caleb Finn, it appears that there is an array of problems.
Cables are being stolen for illegal connections at the Jerusalem informal settlement (formerly the grounds of the Roodepoort Rugby Club). City Power officials have disconnected the illegal connections and are currently busy with maintenance of the power circuit, which was under pressure because of these connections.
“I am sure that most City Power officials are trying their best. In my opinion, the situation is far more serious than City Power failing to supply.
Management, financial aid and security have to be requested from Parliament by each individual resident. Our government is failing to govern, and we need to apply pressure. Voting is not enough,” he said.
