Companies answered the call of need

30 comfort packs sponsored to address a need in Polokwane

“We were contacted by a magistrate from the Association of Regional Magistrates of Southern Africa (ARMSA) to ask if we would be able to help address a need in Polokwane.”

“I decided to approach all the tenants in the Medgate Centre to help us supply these comfort packs, and the response was overwhelming,” said Debrah Widdows, the managing agent at the centre.

Wimpie van Wyk, owner of De Villijon #onsplekkie, made sure no-one went hungry.

She added that, besides their own personal contribution of R200 each, they managed to collect R4 000, which they used to buy the necessary items for the packs, and said, “Our biggest contributors were Naas Delport Brokers who donated R2 000 and ABC Concepts who donated R1 000. Wimpie van Wyk, the owner of De Viilijon #onsplekkie restaurant, also made sure we did not go hungry and supplied us with snacks and something to drink,” she said.

Gerda Baker (ABC Concepts) and Lizel Van Eeden (Matla A Bana).

They partnered with Matla A Bana, an organisation that works closely with the sexual offences courts as well as the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units from the police, and together they managed to fill 30 packs that would help alleviate the need in Polokwane.

“After this, I will definitely make sure that we help out again, as I was not even aware that this was such a huge need,” Deborah concluded.
