Panorama set to hold trials for new SAB League side
There will also be trials for players seeking a spot in the club's Gauteng Development League (GDL) teams from U/13 to U/19.
Panorama Football Club has announced that it has made a decision to purchase the rights for and to launch a team that will take part in the South African Breweries (SAB) Regional League next season.
Panorama’s team will be taking part in the SAB Johannesburg League, which forms part of the SAB Regional League structure, which itself acts as the fourth tier of domestic football in South Africa.
The Northsider was informed of the next step in Panorama’s growth as a club by its chairman, Michael Michael, who also indicated that the paperwork for the team’s SAB League status is in its final stages.
The decision comes shortly after the club launched its brand new five-a-side soccer courts, which in their own right are a big step for the club. The club’s SAB League status is simply the next step in its development, given that it only started taking part in the Gauteng Development League (GDL) with its academy sides (U/13–U/19) last year, with 2018 being their second year in the competition.
This move will grant the club’s academy players an opportunity to be exposed to a higher level of football in a league where they will be pitted against many a development side belonging to some of the strongest Premier Soccer League clubs. The trials for the SAB side will be limited to players who were born in 1998 or more recently, as the league is restricted to U/21 players.
While the older boys will be sticking their heads out to try and qualify for the club’s SAB team, there will also be trials for the GDL teams, i.e. the U/13 to U/19 teams, at the club. U/13 players must be born in 2006 or later, U/15s must be born in 2004 or later, U/17s must be born in 2002 or later, and U/19s must be born in 2000 or later.
Trials will take place at Panorama Football Club on Saturday, 30 June, from 9am onward and all players seeking to take part will need to bring along a valid proof of identification to reliably determine which side they will be trying out for.
