A group of security officers downed tools this morning, Friday, 22 June, halting normal operational duties.

The strike stems from a salary dispute. However, Casey advised in a statement that management is engaging with the relevant staff to urgently resolve the dispute.

According to Casey, the relevant Bargaining Council will embark on sectoral wage determination negotiations for the private security industry in the coming months.

“As in the past, Beagle Watch’s salary structure will remain above the negotiated sectoral wages,” he said.

He added, “The company would like to assure customers that everything possible is being done to ensure the minimum impact on service delivery and reaction times, and would like to apologise in advance if service levels are affected in any way”.

He also assured the public that the company has put the necessary contingency plans in place to manage the impact of the illegal and unprotected strike by the group of striking reaction officers.

Reports suggest that the strike is still under way and is being closely monitored by the police.
