Elderly equipped with safety kits

The handover was made at the new Cosmo City Fire Station as part of a concerted effort to reduce fires and fatalities caused by the unsafe use of heating and lighting appliances.

 

A Jozi fire kit consisting of a bucket, burn kit, Parasafe stove, paraffin containers and many more items was handed over to 50 elderly residents of Cosmo City on 15 June.

The handover was made at the new Cosmo City Fire Station as part of a concerted effort to reduce fires and fatalities caused by the unsafe use of heating and lighting appliances.

According to City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, the recipients of the Jozi safety kits have already been trained in basic firefighting and basic first aid, with the aim of empowering them to deal with emergencies before professional services arrive at the scene.
