Police investigate West Rand upholsterer scam

Honeydew Police have confirmed that a case of fraud is being investigated against an alleged upholsterer scammer. Sharon Rossouw/ Burmeister has allegedly taken many residents for a ride.
A score of residents on the West Rand and more on HelloPeter.com have spilt the beans about this upholsterer who conned them out of their money and furniture in the past year.
Amarosa AH resident, Suzy Viegas was the first to report the case to the police after the upholsterer allegedly refused to return her furniture and money after failing to deliver on the agreed-upon services she had been paid for.
The Northsider ran a story on the saga two weeks ago and invited more people to come forward with their stories. The victims’ stories had a similar narrative and modus operandi.

Rossouw/ Burmeister, who is believed to be operating in the Krugersdorp and Randfontein areas, was approached for comment and in response blamed her clients for failing to collect their furniture.
Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan told Northsider that a case of fraud is under investigation. When asked why the suspect has not been arrested based on information that was provided to the police, Muthan said, “As fraud is a very [complex] case to investigate, all statements (from complainants) have to be obtained before the matter is placed before court. The instruction to arrest the suspect will come from court,” he explained.
Other victims of the upholster scam are advised to report their cases at Honeydew Police Station or at the police station closest to their residences.
