Security vehicle shot at and bumped during house robbery
The tactical manager tried to pursue them (criminals) with the damaged vehicle up to CR Swart Road before his car got stuck, allowing the perpetrators to escape.
Quick thinking by a local security officer led to the disruption of an armed house robbery in Wilro Park earlier today (15 June).
A Dowry tactical manager whose vehicle was shot at and bumped by the perpetrators during their escape, felt uneasy when he drove past a property on Naboom Road. The gate was wide open with a vehicle with flashing lights on the driveway. “I was doing a patrol in Wilro Park, driving along Naboom Road. I drove past the property and saw the gate open and a gold-coloured Ford Figo reverse-parked in the driveway with its lights on.
I realised something was wrong and reversed back to the property, and saw the house door being closed from the inside,” he recalled.
The reaction officer told the Record that he called for back-up. “As I called for back-up, I saw three men, one with a firearm, running out. Several shots were fired and I tried to warn them to get down, but they jumped into their car and sped towards me, bumping my car on the left side. That practically immobilised me – a tyre and the suspension on my car were damaged and the windscreen had gunshot holes in it,” he explained.

The officer tried to pursue them in the damaged vehicle, reaching CR Swart Road before his car came to a halt, allowing the perpetrators to escape.
Several security companies and the Roodepoort Police were at the scene taking statements from the victims, one of whom was a domestic worker who fought back as the suspects allegedly assaulted her and tried to tie her up in one of the bedrooms.
