Mrs South Africa semifinalists visit SPCA

Finalists created awareness for Roodepoort/Krugersdorp SPCA

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA has received a welcome boost to help their fundraising efforts, after a visit from five Mrs South Africa semifinalists.

Melissa Charnley, Zaz Molo, Abigail Leola, Hildah Muthambi and Jani Cronje decided to select the SPCA as their community project, and they, in partnership with MPact Recycling, organised a recycling day.

Ronnie Recycler, Hildah Muthambi and Zaz Molo at the new recycling bin.

The community was invited to bring all their recyclable material, and place it in the brand new Ronnie bin, which was provided by the recycling company, and help the organisation to raise money, as they will receive money for every tonne of recycled material.

The semifinalists sponsored boerwors rolls, cold drinks, tea and coffee on the day, and the community received Ronnie bags to encourage them to support the SPCA by donating their recycling.

Items that can recycled, include the following:

– Any form of paper (white & coloured)

– Office and shredded paper

– Envelopes

– Newspapers

– Magazines and brochures (including glossy varieties)

– Cardboard boxes of any kind e.g. cereal, dry food, tissue boxes etc. (flattened)

– Roll cores – toilet roll and paper towel cores

– Old telephone directories and books

– Paper gift wrap

– Egg cartons

– Milk and juice cartons (Tetra Pak – flattened)

The children were also kept entertained with sweets and a jumping castle, and they received their very own Ronnie bags and badges.
