Funds raised for wild cats security
Justin’s cats died a painful death in May after they were poisoned in what he believes it was for "muthi"-related reasons by poachers.
Following the recent inhumane death of the wild cats at Jugomaro Predator Park, the park owner Justine Fernandes made it his mission to intensify security at the premises.
Justin’s cats died a painful death in May after they were poisoned in what he believes it was for “muthi”-related reasons by poachers.

“On 25 May poachers came onto the property and poisoned my cats which was two brown lions, one white lion and a golden tabby tiger, which was only 30 of these left in the world,” Justin gave background to the story.
He added, “They poisoned the cats and waited for them to die, thinking they were going to have enough time to come in the enclosures, cut off the fence open and decapitate the animals and their paws which they use along with their heads and teeth for medicinal purposes where they do black markets.”

In his efforts to raise funds, he hosted a fundraiser event at Rusty Hook in Honeydew on 10 June which was attended by many people from different areas of Gauteng.

Justin spoke about the pleasing turnout. “The turnout was absolutely great, we probably had about 150 people at the event,” he explained, adding all proceeds will go into enhancing security at the Springs-based park.
The event was enjoyed with food, drinks and entertainment from local artists such as After Elizabeth and Jono Johansen.
