Elves, fauns and unicorns set the feast ablaze
"What an amazing, magical day. You who dressed up, came through, supported us, had fun, ate, drank, quested, quizzed, were merry and the loveliest bunch of guests we could ever hope for."
Unicorns, dragons and all magical beasts, mermaids, griffins and werewolves also came to feast.
The annual Fantasy Fayre, held at La Vue Guest Lodge in Kromdraai, on Saturday, 2 June, was a great feast for the eye.
The event was hosted by Alter Egos who are known for their magical and highly entertaining events for all those who have majestic minds.

The children who attended the event wowed everyone with their incredibly cute outfits, from fairies to dragons and well beyond. Surrounding them was the clip-clop of unicorn hooves, and upon it a brave rider – Khabelo, a member of the Wings of Inspiration Care centre.
Just around the corner stood a big, bad wolf, glaring at Dayle Mallison, who was dressed as Red Riding Hood.

The wolf was from Husky Romi Wolf Sanctuary, and his job was to educate the guests about the gorgeous wolves the sanctuary protects.
Under the cover of a huge tree sat Evaine, a mysterious, yet magical Bengal Eagle Owl. She looked to the sky and her amber eyes glowed in the sunlight. She is one of the animals housed at Feathers and Scales Animal Shelter.

Her head turned as she heard the ring of swords and the clanging of metal plates. In the ‘Colosseum’ stood two armour-clad JuggerKnights, each with a shield and sword in hand. These knights were Karl Smit and Hylton Kleynhans, who had competed in the International Medieval Combat Federation World Championships hosted in Scotland earlier this year.
Thwish, woosh, thunk! An archer released his arrow, hitting the bulls-eye.

“Now you try”, he said to the little girl dressed in Viking clothes behind him.
There were elders standing around the Kubb (viking chess) board, analysing their next move, and the smell of a burning furnace where blacksmiths hammered out new weapons filled the air.
Other fantastic creatures wandered through the market to the sounds of the bards.
