DA retains Ward 85
"I am a service provider and I am willing to serve my people. "
DA candidate, Sonja Meyer, has won the Ward 85 by-election with 75 per cent of the votes.
Last year, the then Ward 85 councillor, Carl Mann, resigned, necessitating a by-election to choose a new candidate to lead the area. The by-election was held on 23 May and residents went to their nearest voting station to cast their votes.
Ward 85 consists of Florida Park Ext, Kloofendal, Honey Hills, Ontdekkers Park, Discovery (north of Phillips Avenue), Horison Ext 1, Horison Park, Helderkruin, Strubens Valley, Princess Plot 61 and Horizon View.
“The DA welcomes the growth we saw in the Ward 85 by-election. Our support increased from 73 per cent of the vote in 2016 to 75 per cent in yesterday’s by-election. This victory paints a promising picture ahead of the 2019 elections,” said John Moodey, the Gauteng MPL.
“I am not a politician,” said Sonja, “I am a service provider and I am willing to serve my people. You won’t see much of me in the newspapers because I don’t work for them. I work purely to serve my people.”
