Mellow Oaks hosts successful SPCA fundraiser
PLG Mellow Oaks Academy rallied all the support they could for a fundraiser held in aid of the Roodepoort SPCA earlier this month.
Mellow Oaks took fundraising into their own hands earlier in May, when they decided to hold a fundraising event to support the Roodepoort SPCA.
The school held a small fun walk as well as several raffles, all of which added up to a successful charity event.
Those who attended the day were treated to various craft stalls, delicious food vendors and entertainment supplied by EC Security and Mellow Oaks’ very own DJ parent, Dylan Rix (DJ Rix).

Besides the Fun Walk (which included many four-legged friends), competitions and lucky draws made the day even more exciting.
One of the many attractions of the day – the rodeo bull ride – challenged the skills of the parents but was met with plenty of enthusiasm.
Lance Duffield, principal of Mellow Oaks Academy, and Carmen Schooling, the co-coordinator of the event, handed the funds raised to Nicole Manners, who represented the SPCA. The total raised was over R28 000.
Mellow Oaks extended a huge thank you to all the sponsors for the effort they put into the event, and to the learners, who raised money selling raffle tickets.
