Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch to address implementation of CCTV at AGM

CCTV has become a vital tool when it comes to security and at this year's AGM, the Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch will be voting on its implementation.

The Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch (RNW) has noted the importance of CCTV and has decided to vote on the implementation of such a system at its upcoming annual general meeting. The AGM takes place on 28 May at the NG Kerk on Azalea Avenue, Roodekrans.

According to Andreas Oberlechner, chairman of the RNW, “The cost to put such a system in place is extremely high and as an organisation we just don’t have that kind of funding at the moment. Therefore we need to vote on it to see if there’s a demand for it. If there is, we’ll begin putting plans in place to implement them in future.”

The RNW covers Roodekrans, Poortview, Amorosa, Wilro Park, Helderkruin View and Breaunanda.

Oberlechner also said that the system will have its base at RNW’s operations room, where the feeds from the cameras will come through.

The voting on the CCTV system will take place as a special vote at the beginning of the AGM, immediately after the opening and welcoming.

The special vote will be followed by RNW’s annual report and then the voting for the new committee will take place.

The meeting will also see a crime update report from Warrant Officer Gert van Deventer followed by the announcement of the new committee as voted for earlier in the meeting.

Registration to vote during the meeting will be at 6pm, with the meeting’s proceedings set to begin at 7pm.
