Unplanned power outage in Roodepoort

There is no estimated time of restoration at this stage.

City Power would like to alert residents about an unplanned power outage in Roodepoort.

According to the City Power spokesperson, Sol Masolo, a mobile transformer at Sentraal Substation has tripped, due to a cable fault which occurred yesterday morning (Wednesday, 16 May).

“The fault has been isolated, but Eskom is still busy checking the mobile transformer, and until they are happy that there are no issues, the technicians cannot restore power. Eskom is on site conducting the necessary tests and the technicians will begin restoration as soon as they are given approval to do so by Eskom,” said Masolo.

The affected areas are parts of Florida, Florida Park, Florida Lake, Delarey, Industria North, Maraisburg, Lea Glen, Fleurhof, Hamberg and Cresswell Park

“There is no estimated time of restoration at this stage,” said Sol.

City Power appeals to the public to report all incidents of cable theft and vandalism of the infrastructure in order to curb the crime that disrupts the supply of electricity to residents on City Power’s Risk Control numbers – 011 490 7911 or 011 490 7504, or at the nearest Police Station.

City Power apologises to affected customers for the inconvenience caused.
