Charterhouse learners celebrate Firefighters Day
Charterhouse School welcomed firefighters from the Hunters Hill station for their very own celebration of International Firefighters Day.
Charterhouse School celebrated International Firefighters Day alongside firefighters from the Hunters Hill Fire Station on 4 May.
They invited the firefighters to the school in order to say thank you for all the fantastic work they do.

“We really appreciated them making time in their busy schedule to pop in and spend some time with our Grade 5 learners,” said Carmel McLaren, the school’s head of marketing.
The Grade 5 learners all came to school wearing red and blue in honour of the special day which is celebrated around the world. They also donned blue and red ribbons which act as the symbol and colours for International Firefighters Day.

International Firefighters Day was instituted after a proposal was emailed out across the world on January 4, 1999 due to the death of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire at Linton in Victoria, Australia.
“A very heartwarming assembly was held at our school in honour of these everyday heroes,” Carmel concluded.
