Bobbies Rugby Club starts season on high note
Tries galore during matches
The Johannesburg Police Rugby Club (Bobbies) has started its league on a high note, recording wins over Germiston Simmer and Diggers Rugby Clubs. The Bobbies hosted Germiston, and, even though the games were tough, the Bobbies showed they will be a force to be reckoned with during the season, and did very well. The U/21 team beat their opponents convincingly, scoring 61 unanswered points. The second team won its game 54–10 after a difficult start, but once its members started playing as a team, the tries started flowing.

The first team won its game 61–10, scoring the first of 10 tries within the first five minutes of the game. “Our back line played like a house on fire and with all their speed and experience scored eight out of the 10 tries on the day. Flyhalf Deon Hendrikz scored 20 of the side’s points with the centre and Man of the Match, Ronald Strydom, adding three tries of his own,” said Jason du Toit, the club’s chairman.

The next league game was played against Diggers Rugby Club, and despite some of the players still recovering from the previous games, the Bobbies teams got the job done.
The results for these games were as follows:

• U/21s won 59–0
• Third team won 10–8
• Second team won 20–12
