Local crowned as the host with the most

'I was truly shocked when I won, it was totally unexpected'

“Winning my episode of Come Dine With Me SA was so unexpected. It still feels a bit unreal,” said a beaming Nadine Naidoo.

The 35-year-old Allen’s Nek resident was a contestant in episode nine of season four of the reality show, where she competed against three others. Each of them hosted a dinner party, and were scored by their guests afterwards. Nadine was crowned as the Host with the Most, after she beat the other three contestants – who both were scored 20 points – by a single point.

She said that she decided to enter after her sister had told her that entries were open. “I jumped at the opportunity, because it was always my late mother’s favourite show, and I wanted to honour her memory. She would have been so proud of me for entering,” she explained”.

Nadine added that the whole experience was an amazing one, and said, “The atmosphere during the show was very relaxed and I did not have to pretend or act, I could just be myself”.

She had many highlights while the episode was being filmed, and she could not think of any low points. “The highlights were definitely the fact that I managed to get onto the show and that people ate my food; not that it was bad, if I may add. I made three amazing friends. The only low point I can think of, was probably the cleaning up afterwards, but it was worth all the effort,” she said, laughing.

Nadine said she would definitely do something like this again, should the opportunity arise, as it was a fun and enjoyable experience. “Initially I only entered the show for the fame … I mean for the fun of it, but being crowned as the winner was an added bonus,” she concluded with a twinkle in her eye.
