FLCC paddlers do well at Inter Provincial Championships
Two paddlers from the Florida Lake Canoe Club (FLCC) participated in the Inter-Schools Inter-Provincial sprint kayaking championships recently.
The championships were held at Roodeplaat Dam in Pretoria, and juniors from U/8 right through to U/18 competed against each other.
Sisanda Mthabela from Hoërskool Roodepoort and David Brown from Laerskool Gustav Preller competed in the U/14 age category. They are both members of the FLCC, where they train regularly.

“Each paddler was not only earning points towards they individual Victor/Victrix Lodorum positions, but they were also earning points for their schools. Points are accumulated through the number of paddlers participating, as well as for their positions they achieved during the various distance races, which ranged from 100m to 5 000m,” said Jennie Dallas from FLCC.
The top schools during the championships were:
• Paarl Boys High (Top boys’ high school)
• Parys Secondary School (Top coed high school)
• Parktown High School for Girls (Top girls’ high school)
• St Davids Marist (Top junior boys’ school)
• The Ridge School (Second – junior boys’ school)
• Laerskool Parys (Top junior coed school)
• De La Salle Holy Cross College (Second – junior coed school)
• Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School (Top junior girls’ school)
