5 upcoming movies you should definitely make time to watch
2018 has already seen the release of 'Black Panther' which ploughed its way to several box-office records, and with many more set to come, here are five movies you don't want to miss.
From Black Panther to Ready Player One to Tomb Raider, movie fans have already been treated to a host of brilliant movies this year, and filmmakers around the world have made sure the movies don’t stop coming.
The film-making industry has seen exponential growth over the last decade, with box office numbers hitting record highs in 2017.
Despite the first quarter of 2018 seeing a slight drop against the same period in 2017, the remainder of the year looks seriously promising.
From superheroes to prehistoric animals and inter-galactic smugglers, 2018 has it all coming up.
We have chosen five movies coming up in the next two months that we feel you should definitely make time to watch …
1. Solo: A Star Wars Story (25 May)
This stand-alone movie is the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise and provides fans with the origin of their favourite inter-galactic smuggler.
Since Harrison Ford will be too old to reprise his role as a young Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich will play the lead role.
The film also boasts a few other big names in the film industry, namely, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Glover.
This is a definite no-miss for Star Wars fans.
2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (8 June)
Ah, yes, the world’s favourite franchise about dinosaurs. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the sequel to the 2015 reboot of the 1990s Jurassic Park franchise.
It will see Chris Pratt reprise his role as Owen Grady, while Bryce Dallas Howard will return in her role as Claire Dearing.
Jeff Goldblum, who was part of the original Jurassic Park franchise in the ’90s will return as Dr Ian Malcolm.
3. Avengers: Infinity War (27 April)
What is undoubtedly the climax of the first 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it is the third Avengers movie in the franchise.
The MCU has become a box-office phenomenon since it started out with the first Iron Man movie in 2008, with 18 movies having been released as part of the franchise over the last 10 years.
Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of all the MCU movies, and will star just about every major character that has appeared in an MCU movie. More than 60 main characters make an appearance in the movie to battle their greatest enemy yet, Thanos.
It’s nearly impossible to list all of the stars who will make appearances in the movie, so you best watch the trailer(s) below to see for yourself.
4. Incredibles 2 (15 June)
If you were a child or even a teenager growing up in the 2000s, then you will definitely feel that this movie is years overdue.
The movie is the sequel to the 2004 animated action film, The Incredibles.
Despite the first movie receiving critical acclaim and achieving commercial success, the second has struggled to get its wheels off the ground.
However, 13 years later, we’ll finally be seeing Craig Nelson reprise his voice role as Bob Parr (Mr Incredible), alongside Holly Hunter as Elastigirl (Mrs Incredible) and the legendary Samuel L Jackson as Lucius Best (Frozone).
Let’s just hope Frozone will be able to find his super suit and get away from his wife to save the world this time around.
5. Deadpool 2 (18 May)
The world’s favourite foul-mouthed ‘superhero’ is making his return to the silver screen this May.
It will be a sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, Deadpool which became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time as well as the highest-grossing X-Men movie.
It will see Ryan Reynolds return as Wade Wilson (Deadpool) as he, according to Twentieth Century Fox, tries to “find a new taste for adventure and earn the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover”.
It will also see the addition of Josh Brolin as the movie’s protagonist, Cable.
