Taxi/ tanker collision leaves several injured

ER24’s Russel Meiring said the taxi was found lying on its side against the tanker.

Seventeen people were left injured this morning (17 April) when a taxi and a tanker collided at the intersection of Nic Diederichs and Hendrik Potgieter Roads in Strubens Valley.

ER24 paramedics, along with another private service, arrived on the scene to find the tanker and taxi on the side of the road.

ER24’s Russel Meiring said the taxi was found lying on its side against the tanker. “Several people were found lying and walking around on the scene. The paramedics assessed the patients and found that a total of seventeen had sustained minor to moderate injuries,” he explained.

“Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found on the scene. Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to various hospitals in the area for further treatment,” he added.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation of the incident.
