Schools searched to ensure learner safety

The search was part of the Safer Schools Project

 

In a bid to create a safe learning environment for school children, Honeydew Police in conjunction with Johannesburg Metro Police, the Dog Unit and other stakeholders conducted a search in local schools. The searches are part of the Safer Schools Project.

At Cosmo City High School designated personnel searched the learners in their classes.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan was impressed that no illegal substances or weapons were found on any of the learners. He said they were encouraged to keep up their good behaviour.

“The learners were reminded about the ill effects of drugs, violence and carrying weapons to school,” he explained.
