Kutlwanong Training Centre gets a second chance
New sponsorship secured
The Kutlwanong Home Craft Development Trust at Durban Deep has been handed a new lifeline, and the future is looking much brighter.
It has been almost seven months since the termination of their sponsorship from AfriSam, which forced them to close their doors. “We tried everything in our power to secure a new sponsorship in order for us not to stop operating, and I am very happy to announce that we have secured a sponsorship from CalgroM3 that will enable us to continue to provide training. We hope to be fully operational again soon,” said Leoni Naudé, the programme manager.

She added that they will now be able to help the almost 400 aspiring students who want to undergo training and said, “Our focus is mainly on women, and we offer catering, sewing, entrepreneurship and life-skills courses. The duration of the training is approximately three months, after which our students receive a qualification that is accredited by the Services Sector Education and Training Authority. I believe that what we do is important and of value to the students.”
She concluded by saying, “We are grateful for and relieved about the sponsorship and are very excited about the future.”
