MUST READ: 4-hour power rotation for Roodepoort and Northcliff for next 14 days

Residents will face an electricity rotation for the next 14 days. Find the full schedule in the article.

City Power has released a statement informing readers that due to stolen cables, large parts of Northcliff and Roodepoort will only be supplied with electricity at four-hour intervals for the next 14 days- Northcliff Melville Times reports.

Read the statement below:

“City Power experienced a power interruption at 5am this morning when a 33kv cable which links Glen Lea and Florida substations was stolen causing major damage to transformers at Sentraal substation.

The power interruptions affect Florida Glen, Bergbron, Northcliff, Industria North, Delarey, Whiteridge, Quellerina, Maraisberg, Florida North, Florida, Rand Leases, Hamberg, Georginia, Glen Lea, Rand Water Board, Fleurhof, Robertsville, Dantex, Roodepoort and surrounding areas.

City Power is currently working on replacing damaged transformers, the stolen cable and repairing transformers that are damaged with the aim of restoring electricity as soon as is possible.

While busy with the repairs, we will adopt a four hourly rotation system in supplying electricity to all affected customers. This therefore means that all areas which are affected by the power interruption will be supplied with electricity on a four-hour rotation basis which is meant to give them an equal access to electricity.
City Power technical team is doing everything in its power to restore electricity to all affected customers within 14 days.

We will provide regular updates on the possible restoration times as and when new updates become available.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”

Below is the rotation for affected areas:

*Please note that Areas 1B and 4A can only be shed if the load is high.

Please note that power will be off for the above mentioned times, and take the necessary precautions to prevent injury should the power suddenly return.
