Florida swimmers qualify for National championships

'The Florida Swimming Club's members want to congratulate them on their selection'

 

Three swimmers from the Florida Swimming Club took part in the Open Water National Championships in Jeffrey’s Bay recently.

Jessica de Beer represented the province for the fifth time this year and participated in the three and five kilometre events. She finished the three kilometre event in a time of 42.06, earning a fifth place finish. It was Demi-Lee Carlisle’s second year at the event, and she finished the three kilometre event in a time of 43.17, finishing in 12th position. Mikayla Holland went to the event for the first time this year, and finished the three kilometre event in a time of 47.05, in 20th position.

Tracey Hemphill, the head coach said, “Florida Swimming Club’s members and the committee would like to congratulate these girls on their selection and their performance at the championships.”

The swimmers still have quite a busy season ahead of them, as they will not only be representing Florida Swimming Club at the national and regional competition in the next few weeks – Jessica will also be taking part in the South African Masters National Championships, Demi-Lee will be heading to Durban for the South African Junior National Championships and Mikayla will be participating in the Level 3 regional championships in Pretoria.
