A kickboxer from Team Rage kickboxing club recently took his first step on the road to becoming a South African champion.
Cole Langa had the opportunity to fight in the Supreme Fight League (SFL), a league in which South Africa’s top fighters participate for an opportunity to gain international recognition.

The event took place at the Rivonia Barnyard, and saw 26 fighters from all over South Africa climbing into the ring to showcase their skills.
All fighters participating in the SFL league also have the chance to be selected for – and compete in – Glory Kickboxing events, which is seen as the largest promotion in the world.

Cole fought against Nico Jooste, and the two fighters had the crowd on the edge of their seats. In the second round, Cole went down after a well placed kick to his chin, but he quickly recovered and got back to his feet, ready to continue the fight. The third round saw Cole dominating his opponent, ensuring he built up – and maintained – a healthy lead, resulting in him winning the fight on points.

Darrin Oppeman, Cole’s coach said, “We are very proud of Cole and believe he has what it takes to come out on top. If he manages to compete – and win – at the Glory events, he may be crowned as the next top South African middleweight champion”.
