SkryfNet writing competition entries now open
Entries for the sixth SkryfNet writing competition have officially opened for aspiring writers.
Aspiring writers in South Africa below the age of 13 finally have the chance to enter for the Skryf Net competition again.
The competition will be run across two age categories: six to nine year olds and 10 to 13 year olds.
Entries can be written on any topic the writer chooses, but must not exceed 1 000 words and must be an original and unpublished work by the writer.
Entries can be typed in double spacing on one side of A4 paper with all pages of the submission showing the title of the story as well as the entrant’s name. Hand-written entries are requested to be clear and legible.
Each entrant can submit one story written in Afrikaans, English, Sotho or Zulu.
Written work may be edited by an adult for spelling mistakes and authors should be able to read their work as the winners may be asked to read their story live or in front of an audience.
As an entrant, you stand the chance of winning a R450 book voucher as the winner or a R150 book voucher as a runner-up in a language category.
Entries will be accepted until 31 July and finalists will receive an official letter or e-mail of notification. They may be requested to attend an interview to read their work to be used in the award show on 31 October.
Should you wish to take part, you can post your entry to the following address:
