Roodepoort Child Welfare calling for board nominations

Nominations to be sent before 23 March

 

If you have always wanted to do something for the community to make a difference in someone else’s life, but did not know where to start, this article is just for you.

Child Welfare South Africa Roodepoort wants to develop its governance structure by recruiting new member to serve on its Board.

The organisation is a non profit organisation (NPO) that has been in operation since 1930, and has been rendering services that is classified in the category of care and protection of children as well as care and support programmes for families and communities.

The organisation does not only deal with the devastating impact that sexual, emotional and physical abuse has on vulnerable children in the community but also deal with other social challenges including single families without support, child headed households, marital conflict, teenage pregnancies and substance abuse.

Child Welfare SA Roodepoort also renders community development programmes in vulnerable areas, which include preventative, educational, developmental and awareness programmes.

But, they cannot do all of this on their own, and is now looking for new members to serv on the Board of Management, and Estelle Odendaal, Maanager at Child Welfare SA Roodepoort explained it as follow, “This is a voluntary, unpaid role for a three year term. Board members provide leadership, governance and oversight to help further the organisation’s mission.”

Nominations in the foloowing sectors are sought; fundraising and marketing with strong networks, operations management (including human resource and project management), early childhood development, learner education, community outreach and/or foundation education, legal advisor and ICT management.

Nominations will be accepted until 23 March, and nominees are required to submit an application form, completed Form 30 and a curriculum vitae (CV) with the names and contact details of two referees to manager@rcw.org.za, with ‘board member application’ in the subject line.
