School shaves and colours hair to support Cansa
The school hosted its event under the theme 'Say it loud in colour!' which was well-received by the learners and staff
King’s School West Rand learners were left fizzing with jubilation when the school joined the worthy cause of supporting Cansa by hosting their third annual Shavathon.
The school hosted its event under the theme ‘Say it loud in colour!’ which was well-received by the learners and staff who together managed to raise just over R13 000.

Shavathon is an event organised by Cansa, with the aim of creating awareness about cancer and to gather funds for cancer research and support for cancer patients. Participants show their support by either having their hair shaved off or spraying their hair different colours in return for a donation of R50.
“In total, over the past three years, we have managed to raise in excess of R39 000.
It’s evident that the school takes responsibility as Christians to stand together with those that suffer from diseases such as cancer,” said a spokesperson for the school.

The school commended everyone who supported the cause by either donating money, time or helping in any other way.
