Metro driver causes an accident
The driver and passenger in the bakkie were quickly rushed to hospital.
Three vehicles were involved in a accident yesterday afternoon, after a Metro bus driver skipped a stop sign.
The accident occurred at about 3.45pm at the corner of Corlett Avenue and Hulley Street. Metro bus officials, Johannesburg Metro Police Department officials, tow-trucks and Help24 were rapidly on the scene, and the local CPF closed the road, resulting in a serious traffic back-up.

According to the driver of the white Polo involved in the accident, Caylan van Luiters, “The Metro bus driver didn’t stop at the stop sign. He just slowed down and then drove across, unaware of the cars on the other side of the road.

The bakkie crashed into the back of the bus and I then smashed into the back of the bakkie. The bakkie was carrying a load of chickens, and almost a half of them died.”

By the time the Record got to the scene, the driver of the bakkie and his passenger had already been rushed to hospital. Onlookers said the driver was terribly wounded – his leg was cut opened and there was a lot of blood.
Caylan and her passenger didn’t suffer major injuries, but the accident left them shocked and traumatised.
