Sleepless nights come to an end
A score of community members congregated behind Retail Crossing Shopping Centre on 6 March at 6.45pm to give thanks for Kailyn’s tracing and possible return home.
The prayer meeting held for the successful return of Kailyn Pillay, who went missing on 1 March, has reminded the community about the importance of unity.
Kaiylin was traced on 6 March by authorities at a secret location outside the province. The community of Wilgeheuwel has been involved in the search for the 20 year old since the matter was reported at Honeydew Police Station.

The family thanked everyone for showing solidarity in their time of need. They indicated they will be arranging to travel to the location Kailyn has been traced to, and that he was safe.

Community activist Helen McDonald cited the importance of communities working together and assisting the police to resolve matters. “It was really important to show solidarity because we all know that the police are too busy at this point in time to handle every single case.

I think every parent or grandparent understands the absolute trauma that one feels when your child goes missing,” she said.
She added there was no other way for the family to feel that people cared than standing together.
Gerhard agreed, saying that unity is vital. “It is very important to look out for each other. A lot of people don’t even know who stays next door to them, and this creates problems when we have break-ins and all sorts of crimes happening in our community. Without standing together and knowing each other, we will go nowhere,” he concluded.
