Milestones reached at Roodepoort parkrun
There were more than 1 000 participants
The 308th parkrun attracted 1 068 participants, ready to complete their weekly 5km run/ walk .
During this event quite a few milestones were celebrated, with Franco Schwinn, Jonathan Kerr and Iona Scott participating in their 50th parkrun. Ingrid Carson and Miles Wilson completed their 100th parkrun.
Keith Norman, the parkrun’s main organiser, also thanked the Roodepoort Athletics Club members who, as a club, took time out to volunteer at the event.
The first male runner to cross the finish line was Thuso Motsaapheko, who managed to finish his two laps in 19 minutes 14 seconds. The first woman to cross the finish line was Winnie de Winnaar from Nedbank Running Club in a time of 24 minutes 2 seconds – a new personal best for her.
The Roodepoort parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 8am at the Len Rutter Park in Florida.
